Scholastic 2026 Anthology
This is Savanna's first publication that she composed, designed, and directed as a Managing Editor for genesis. Each year, the magazine and Scholastic team up to showcase the voices of Indiana's Youth. This is an issue she holds close to her, as it's something she's dreamed of her whole life. She learned about editing and publications through a much clearer lens, and she could not be more thankful.
genesis Vol. 55
This is Savanna's first publication of genesis as a Managing Editor. It's the second book she's designed and directed in 2026. This issue is a testament to the training she had undergone in 2025, as her time creating this publication made her the first-ever recipient of the Jim Powell Award for Editorial Excellence.
Scholastic 2025 Anthology
This is Savanna's second Scholastic publication as a senior editor for genesis. Savanna worked alongside both fellow senior editors and her managing editors to ensure precise clarity in the 2024 Scholastic Anthology. Aside from copyediting, she collaborated with managing editors to vote on accepted artworks.
genesis Vol. 54
This is the last issue Savanna worked on as a senior editor before graduating to managing editor in Fall 2025. She observed the behind-the-scenes construction of the magazine while being trained for her new position. She came prepared with feedback on submissions for each weekly meeting and also copyedited the issue. This issue won first place for Literary Magazine of the Year at ICPA for the second year in a row.
genesis Vol. 53
This was Savanna's first issue published as a senior editor. She worked alongside her managing editors all year to better understand the process of editing and publications. The Spring 2024 issue went home with 10 awards, including Literary Magazine of the Year, at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association Awards.
Scholastic 2024 Anthology
This was Savanna's first time partnering with Scholastic through genesis. She worked as a copyeditor and evaluated pieces in detail to confirm proper formatting. She's proud to know she played a part in not only the nation's longest-running creative program for young adults, but also in guaranteeing an outlet and platform for young artists.
genesis Vol. 52
For the Spring 2023 issue of genesis, Savanna worked as an apprentice. This was the first publication of the magazine that she was a part of. She learned how to properly decide and vote on submissions and reviewed pieces that the editorial staff were conflicted on. This is also the issue that holds Savana's first-ever publication.
